Quarantine has led me to spending large amounts of time with myself with a limited amount of activities to place my focus on. Spending an abnormal amount of time alone can be detrimental to the mental health of people. My mental health could not have endured it if I did not have art as an outlet for the emotions that have gathered within me in mass quantities; it serves as both a distraction and an outlet. Long term systematic issues that finally rose to the surface with full force on top of everything else will overwhelm you and give you a sense of a lack of control. Art has always been an omnipresent thing that I would occupy myself with throughout my life. I’ve taken an interest towards art at an early age or about three years old. When choosing photos of people for reference, I like to choose photos that seem as if they could have an interesting backstory to them. Colors really fascinate me and how you can see many shades and tones in a seemingly solid color. If you take a glance at your own hand, you could average out the color and say that it is the color of your skin, because that is what the majority is; however, there are veins that you could pay attention to or the more reddish hues in certain areas or shadows. The angles and colors you choose can dictate the mood of the picture and the mood will never be completely obvious to the viewer because it does not outright say it with words.
